  • Position Summary: What You’ll Do
  • As a Calibration Support Engineer Intern, you will gain hands-on experience and fundamental knowledge in precision equipment calibration within HCT America’s calibration laboratory. This 1-year internship is designed to introduce you to basic calibration tasks, standardized laboratory procedures, and quality operations. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, you will learn to test, verify, and maintain a variety of measuring instruments while adapting to American corporate culture and expanding your international career perspective.

Responsibilities

  • What We Do
  • 1. Basic Calibration & Equipment Support
  • Learn and assist with basic calibration and verification of test instruments (electrical, mechanical, RF) following Standard operating procedures.
  • Help prepare, set up, organize and clean test equipment and workstations for daily lab operations.
  • Safety transport, move, and position test equipment and tools throughout the laboratory.
  • 2. Data Entry & Documentation Assist
  • Record measurement data and testing results accurately into the lab database.
  • Assist in preparing basic calibration certificates and test records under senior staff oversight.
  • Perform basic inspection and preventive maintenance check-ups on assigned tools.
  • 3. Training, Mentoring & Cultural Exchange
  • Participate in structured weekly technical training sessions and mentoring meetings with senior engineers to build practical metrology skills.
  • Actively engage in workplace for cultural exchange, team communications, and professional development activities.
  • Perform basic ad-hoc lab tasks and facility support duties as requested.

Requirements

  • & Skills: What You Bring
  • Recent graduate or entry-level candidate with a degree/diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Metrology, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong desire to learn basic calibration concepts, ISO 17025 basics, and laboratory safety.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with solid technical report writing and documentation skills.
  • Proactive mindset with strong problem-solving and hands-on approach to learning.
  • Positive attitude with excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with teams.
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow basic step-by-step instructions precisely.
  • Basic English communication skills (written and spoken) with an eagerness to adapt to a global team environment.
  • Driver’s License is a plus (preferred for occasional local travel).
  • Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Must be able to bend, stop, kneel, stand, and lift or move equipment weighing up to 80 lbs with proper handling equipment or assistance.
  • Occasional local travel within the San Francisco Bay Area may be required for client site visits or meetings.
