Customs Specialist

Responsibilities

  • Customs Clearance & Facilitation: Partner with US Customs to facilitate import and export operations smoothly.
  • Tariff & Classification Support: Assist internal departments with accurate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code classification and tariff information.
  • Documentation & Settlement: Manage customs scheduling, prepare necessary trade documentation, and execute monthly customs settlements.
  • Trade Compliance & Audits: Ensure strict regulatory compliance for all international transactions, conduct transaction reviews, and support internal audit functions.
  • Regulatory Monitoring: Stay updated on international trade laws and proactively communicate upcoming regulatory changes to internal stakeholders.
  • Special Trade Initiatives: Execute processes related to Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and duty drawback initiatives.
  • Logistics Coordination: Communicate and coordinate with external parties—including freight forwarders, overseas vendors, customers, carriers, and shipping companies—to streamline logistics.
  • Administrative Support: Perform various administrative tasks to support the trade and logistics department.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years of professional experience in import, customs, or logistics.
  • Language:Bilingual proficiency in Korean and English (Mandatory) with strong communication skills.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid knowledge of Canada Customs regulations (including classification, valuation, free trade agreements, and special customs programs).
  • Core Competencies: * Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, complex, and rapidly changing environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail to ensure strict compliance with both corporate policies and Canada Customs regulations.
  • Continuous improvement focus with the ability to articulate problems and identify root causes.
  • Communication: Adept at tailoring communication style, level of detail, and complexity based on client and stakeholder needs.
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in MS Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Nice to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, Operations, or an equivalent field.
  • Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) and/or Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) designation.
  • Prior operational experience with the ACE (Automated Commercial Environment) Portal.
