We are seeking an Equipment Engineer to support the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of manufacturing equipment in a fast-paced advanced manufacturing environment.
The Equipment Engineer will help improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and implement mechanical, automation, and process improvements that enhance safety, quality, and operational performance.
This position will work closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Controls, and Process Engineering teams to support equipment commissioning, preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, equipment modifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
Support the installation, commissioning, and startup of new manufacturing equipment and systems.
Evaluate manufacturing equipment and perform equipment testing to support production and quality objectives.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and automation-related equipment issues.
Identify root causes and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
Complete equipment-related work orders and maintain accurate maintenance and repair documentation.
Support equipment modifications, redesigns, automation improvements, and process optimization projects.
Assist with PLC logic updates and equipment control improvements.
Monitor equipment performance following repairs, upgrades, and modifications.
Analyze equipment performance data, including OEE, downtime, breakdown frequency, yield losses, and micro-stoppages.
Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and manufacturing efficiency.
Prepare reports and present findings related to equipment performance and continuous improvement.
Collaborate with Production, Maintenance, Quality, Controls, and Process Engineering teams.
Communicate with equipment manufacturers, engineers, and global technical teams regarding equipment performance and troubleshooting.
Assist in developing troubleshooting guides, work instructions, preventive maintenance procedures, and technical documentation.
Support routine audits, inspections, and compliance activities.
Assist with training operators, technicians, and engineers on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance practices.
Follow established work instructions, standard operating procedures, and company policies.
Comply with all safety requirements, including PPE, machine guarding, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
Complete all required training programs.
Maintain regular and reliable on-site attendance.
Maintain workplace organization in accordance with 5S3R standards.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
Equivalent technical education, military training, internship, co-op experience, or demonstrated mechanical and technical aptitude may be considered.
Strong technical and mechanical aptitude.
English proficiency required.
Korean/English bilingual proficiency is highly preferred but not required.
Experience
1+ year of experience supporting manufacturing equipment, automation systems, maintenance, engineering, or related industrial operations preferred.
Experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, or improving manufacturing equipment preferred.
Experience with Mitsubishi PLC-controlled equipment and industrial automation systems preferred.
Experience analyzing equipment performance, downtime, OEE metrics, or manufacturing process improvements preferred.
Internship, co-op, apprenticeship, military technical training, senior design projects, or equivalent hands-on technical experience may be considered in lieu of professional experience.
Required / Preferred Skills
Strong understanding of mechanical equipment, industrial automation systems, and manufacturing processes.
Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and automated manufacturing systems preferred.
Experience with Mitsubishi PLCs preferred.
CAD experience with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or similar platforms preferred.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, equipment manuals, and technical documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and willingness to learn new technologies.
Korean/English bilingual proficiency preferred for communication with Korean-speaking engineers, equipment suppliers, and global technical teams.
Physical Requirements
The position requires the ability to perform physical activities repeatedly for periods of up to 12 hours.
Ability to continuously wear required PPE, including safety glasses, steel-toed shoes, hearing protection, and nitrile gloves during work shifts.
Ability to lift, push, pull, and move materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Ability to stand, walk, crouch, kneel, stoop, and reach overhead as required.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Ability to safely navigate manufacturing and production areas.
Ability to use hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, computers, and diagnostic devices.
Work Environment
Work is performed primarily within a manufacturing facility.
Work areas may include office, production, maintenance, laboratory, utility, and operational environments.
Frequent interaction with manufacturing equipment, automated systems, robotics, conveyors, and industrial machinery.
Exposure to noise, vibration, moving mechanical equipment, elevated temperatures, dust, and other manufacturing-related hazards may occur.
Work may involve proximity to industrial chemicals, regulated materials, and manufacturing processes.
Strict adherence to safety policies, PPE requirements, machine safety protocols, and Lockout/Tagout procedures is required.
May provide support during equipment installation, maintenance, production trials, shutdowns, or operational emergencies.
Flexible working hours may occasionally be required to support production operations, troubleshooting, or project implementation.
