The Production Engineering Assistant Manager leads new model launch and process improvement work for our client company's assembly lines. This role installs and commissions jigs and production equipment for new and derivative models, secures dimensional quality, and drives line optimization, cycle time reduction, and cost reduction on mass production lines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

New and Derivative Model Launch
Install and commission assembly lines, jigs, and production equipment for new and derivative models
Support customer events for new model launches
Secure product and jig dimensional quality (DIM'S)
Identify issues on new model lines and follow up on improvement status
Prepare PLT requests, set master PLT, support in-line robot teaching, and run internal reviews
Process Improvement
Plan and execute production line improvements, including line optimization and cycle time reduction
Support jig dimensional improvements on mass production lines
Manage welding condition sheets
Handle engineering change orders (ECO) for jigs and production equipment
Plan, execute, and analyze plant layout changes
Project and Cost Management
Manage department business schedules and plant construction projects
Manage cost reduction on projects
Support Assembly Maintenance as needed
Supervisory Responsibilities
May direct production engineering support technicians and outside contractors on installation and improvement projects.
Requirements
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience
[TBC] years of production engineering experience in automotive body/assembly manufacturing
Hands-on experience installing and commissioning jigs and welding equipment
Experience with new model launches in the automotive industry preferred
Technical Skills
Strong mechanical and electrical skills, including circuit analysis and troubleshooting
Ability to read technical drawings and perform dimensional measurements
Experience with robot teaching and welding conditions preferred
Forklift and boom lift operation
Language and Competencies
Fluent English required; bilingual English/Korean preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment
Work is split between the office and the plant floor; extended floor work is required during new model launches, installations, and emergencies
Plant floor is warmer than the office, with weld spatter present; PPE must be worn at all times in the plant
Must be available for on-call response to emergencies
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Regularly required to stand, walk, climb, and reach while working on equipment
