The Material Control Specialist manages locally sourced (outsourced) parts at our client company so that production always has the material it needs. This role issues purchase orders and delivery schedules to local suppliers, controls inventory and receiving, tracks supplier performance, and handles supplier claims and engineering changes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Inventory and Supplier Management
Prepare daily inventory reports and send daily production reports to suppliers
Prepare purchase orders and delivery schedules; adjust schedules and monitor supplier delivery
Inform suppliers of monthly production requirements and volume changes
Maintain receiving and shipment records
Analyze inventory levels to prevent line shutdowns or excess inventory
Investigate monthly inventory discrepancies such as missing or excess stock
Conduct monthly physical inventory counts
Supplier Performance and Quality
Update supplier performance daily and prepare weekly supplier reports
Prepare claims against suppliers for quality or downtime issues
Evaluate suppliers to drive continuous improvement
Support floor operations when nonconforming parts are found
Coordinate engineering changes (ECO) with suppliers, Quality, and Production
Reporting and Administration
Prepare weekly reports and expense reports for approval
Maintain attendance, vacation, and status records for material floor staff
Perform other department tasks as assigned by the Material Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises Material Department forklift drivers and floor workers.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree; or two-year degree with 4 years of related experience; or high school diploma with 6 years of related experience
Experience in material control, supply chain, or logistics in automotive manufacturing preferred
Skills
Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Ability to read, analyze, and report data, including rates, ratios, and percentages
Clear written and oral communication with suppliers and internal departments
Fluent English required; bilingual English/Korean preferred
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Primarily office-based, with regular visits to the warehouse and production floor
PPE must be worn at all times in the plant
Noise level is usually moderate
Regularly required to talk and hear, sit, and use hands; occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach
Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
