Credits and limits

AI apps use credits at the same prices as the dashboard, with spending caps you control.

Your AI app spends Tahoe credits the same way the dashboard does: the same prices, from the same workspace balance. Reading, drafting, managing jobs and sending email are free. Finding new people, revealing contact details and a few other actions cost credits, and the app tells you the cost before anything is charged.

This page lists what costs credits, how your app keeps a paid action from costing more than you expect, and the limits that apply when you work from an AI app.

What costs credits

The rate card is the one the dashboard uses.

ActionCredits
Candidate search: the first page (20 people)2. Running the exact same filters again is not charged twice.
Each further page of a search2 for a page you have not loaded before. Pages already loaded are free.
X-ray web search (public LinkedIn profiles found through web search)10. The same request is not charged twice.
Work email, personal email or phone1, 3 or 15, charged only when found. Details already on file are free.
Concierge: a list built by hand by Tahoe’s sourcing team50, refunded if the list is not delivered. Up to 2 per month.
Unlock a job-board résumé after its free window50, charged once per résumé
GitHub developer search2, plus 2 for each extra 100 reachable developers
GitHub CSV export20, the first time for each search
Reading anything, filter previews, drafting, jobs, pipeline actions, analytics, sending emailFree

A job-board résumé is free for 90 days after the application, can be viewed until day 120, and then locks. Unlocking it costs 50 credits once and is permanent. Phone pre-screening calls are charged as in the dashboard, by the actual length of each candidate’s call.

Every paid action has a ceiling

When your app calls a paid action, it must say the most that action may spend. You see this number in your app’s approval prompt before anything runs. Tahoe estimates the cost first:

  • If the estimate fits under the ceiling, the action runs and you pay only what it actually costs.
  • If the estimate is higher than the ceiling, nothing is charged and nothing runs. The app tells you the estimate so you can raise the ceiling or ask for less.

You can set the ceiling in plain words, such as “don’t spend more than 10 credits”. You can also ask for a free quote at any time, for example “How much would revealing phones for this list cost?”

Example

Reveal phones for my Rust WASM EU list. Don’t spend more than 20 credits.

The app gets a free quote. A phone costs 15 credits when found, so the 25 people on the list could cost up to 375 credits, well above the 20 you allowed. Nothing is charged. The app offers work emails instead, at 1 credit each when found.

Every paid answer reports the charge

After a paid action, the answer says what was charged and what your balance is now. You only pay for what you get: a reveal charges only for the details it found, and a GitHub search is charged when it finishes, never more than its quote, and not at all if it finds nobody, is cancelled or fails.

Example

Load the next page, save the top 8 to a new list called PM Payments US, and get their work emails. Max 10 credits.

The app loads page 2 (2 credits), saves the 8 people to the new list (free), and reveals work emails. It finds 7 of 8, so the reveal costs 7 credits. The answer ends with “9 credits used, 401 left.”

Retries never charge twice

Sometimes an app sends the same request twice, for example after a dropped connection. Tahoe recognizes the repeat and returns the first result. Nothing is charged, sent or posted a second time.

Workspace limits for AI apps

On top of each action’s ceiling, your workspace sets limits on what AI apps may spend and send. These are the defaults. Daily limits start again each day at midnight UTC.

LimitDefault
Most credits one action may spend150
Credits per person per day300
Credits for the whole workspace per day25% of the workspace’s monthly credits, up to 3,000
Email recipients per campaign launch50
Email recipients per person per day100
Campaign launches per person per day3
People with contact details in one answer25
Contact details per person per day500 values
First 24 hours of a new connectionUp to 100 credits and 10 email recipients

Workspace owners and admins can change most of these limits in Settings → AI connectors. Admin controls

Usage limits

These limits apply to everything you do from an AI app, whatever your workspace settings.

WhatLimit
Paid search pages100 per workspace per day. Pages already loaded stay free.
Pages in one search50 (1,000 people)
GitHub searchesOne at a time, up to 10 per workspace per day
Concierge requests2 per workspace per month
Moving or rejecting applicants200 applicants per request
Email sequences to applicantsUp to 500 applicants and 10 steps
Exports to your ATS200 people per request
Contact imports from a chat500 rows per message. For bigger files, use Contacts → Add Contacts in the dashboard.
One requestLong work shows progress, and any single request stops after about 4 minutes.

Long jobs, such as a GitHub search, run in the background. The app starts them and checks back on the progress, so a single request does not have to wait for them.

Rate limits

To keep Tahoe quick for everyone, each connection can make a limited number of requests a minute. Normal use stays far below these numbers.

Kind of actionPer connection, per minute
Reads: looking things up120
Writes: changes inside Tahoe, such as saving people or editing a draft30
Credit spends: searches, contact lookups and other paid actions6, with at most 2 running at a time
Outside actions: sending email, publishing jobs, posting on LinkedIn, inviting teammates and payment links5

Signing in has its own limits, set high enough for AI apps that connect many people at once.

When a request goes over a limit, the answer has the code limit_reached and, when Tahoe knows it, retry_after_s: the number of seconds to wait before trying again. For the limits above that is a few seconds, and most apps wait and retry on their own. The same code is used when a daily limit is reached, such as 100 paid search pages; then try again the next day. A refused request changes nothing and charges nothing. If two paid actions are already running, a third one gets busy instead, with its own retry_after_s. Error codes

When you run out of credits

If an action needs more credits than you have, the app says so (“Needs 75 credits; you have 41”) and charges nothing. Top up in Settings → Credits in the dashboard. Owners and admins can also ask the app for a secure payment link, which opens in the browser, if billing is turned on for AI apps in Settings → AI connectors.
