Cursor and VS Code
Add Tahoe to your editor with one config file.
In Cursor and VS Code you add Tahoe with a few lines in a settings file, then sign in from the editor. This suits recruiters and recruiting operations teams who already work in an editor, for example to keep job descriptions or sourcing notes next to their Tahoe searches.
You need a paid Tahoe plan, and AI apps must be allowed in your workspace (they are by default). Connect your AI app explains the Tahoe sign-in page.
Cursor
- Open Settings → Tools & MCP and click New MCP server. Cursor opens the file
~/.cursor/mcp.json. - Add Tahoe to the file and save it:
{
"mcpServers": {
"tahoe": { "url": "https://mcp.hiretahoe.com/mcp" }
}
}- Tahoe appears in the list with Needs login. Click it, sign in to Tahoe, choose your workspace and click Allow.
If the file already lists other servers, add the tahoe entry next to them inside mcpServers.
VS Code
In VS Code, Tahoe works in GitHub Copilot Chat. Add it with the Command Palette or with a settings file.
With the Command Palette: run MCP: Add Server, choose HTTP, paste https://mcp.hiretahoe.com/mcp and name it tahoe.
With a settings file: add Tahoe to .vscode/mcp.json in your project, or to your user settings:
{
"servers": {
"tahoe": { "type": "http", "url": "https://mcp.hiretahoe.com/mcp" }
}
}Then:
- Click Start above the
tahoeentry and accept the sign-in prompt. - Sign in to Tahoe, choose your workspace and click Allow.
- Open Copilot Chat, switch it to Agent mode and ask your question. Tahoe’s tools are used in agent mode.
Commands and cards
Both editors show Tahoe’s ready-made commands when you type / in the chat, and some answers appear as interactive cards. Slash commands and skills
Read intake-notes.md and turn it into a Tahoe search for a Field Coordinator in Columbus, Ohio.
You keep the hiring manager’s intake notes for Kestrel Labs in your project. The editor reads the file, proposes search filters (title, location, skills) and shows the price before it runs: 2 credits for the first page of 20 people. You approve, and the matches come back with their scores.
